Pressure-triggered safety valve for critical thermometer applications
Industrial processes often involve hazardous or explosive substances, requiring robust safety mechanisms to minimize risks. Over time, thermowells can develop cracks due to abrasion or corrosion, potentially allowing hazardous materials to escape during active processes or maintenance. The patented Dual Seal feature included in iTHERM ModuLine industrial thermometers provides an additional safety barrier in the event of thermowell failure or breakage.
Increased plant safety with the second process barrier
Dual Seal technology available for iTHERM ModuLine TM131 / TM151 / TM152
Increased plant safety with the second process barrier
Dual Seal technology available for iTHERM ModuLine TM131 / TM151 / TM152
Benefits
No risk of hazardous leakages
Increased safety for maintenance personnel, plant and environment
Health monitoring & signal to PLC in case of activation
Additional health information from measurement device
Immediate sealing for containment of hazardous media
The Dual Seal mechanism detects a potential loss of thermowell integrity and immediately seals off the sensor insert, preventing the leakage of process medium into the terminal head, cabinet or environment. The temperature transmitter relays the message of the thermowell breakage to the process control system. This information is then used to bring the plant to a safe condition and prevent danger to people and the environment.
